I don't see Americans as any more stupid than any other society. Stupid implies inability to learn and IMHO they may not have a high quality educational system and are fed lies to build their inoculation to the perils of living within a capitalist society, but they are no more or less intelligent than any other society. Sure the American culture has the pitfalls you mention...AI, social media, etc. but those are distractions and tools used to build conformity and don't reflect intellectual capability. Americans may have a crappy educational system, but that doesn't mean they can't learn, more that they aren't provided with the resources to learn relative to what other societies are presented with.
Stupidity is typically defined merely as lacking intelligence or reason, which seems accurate. That is not to say that they are unable to learn, as whether they are capable is a wholly separate issue. Unfortunately, it seems most are simply unwilling.

Butch Ware, the California Governor Green candidate, has wellness workshops centred around the idea that we are intentionally made sick.

Empathy in this case is quite complicated to me. I think in many cases, Americans/Westerners don’t know any better (hence MAGA, for example, given its utter incoherence). Yet if they themselves cause damages due to their upbringing/culture, that’s not something I can just look past either.
I align with Mao’s belief of re-education and liberation. The difficulty lies in their refusal to take in or even consider any opposing thoughts, which is itself a result of Western culture and education. (This applies to my previous critique of WWLs as well, many of whom condemn Imperialist America yet accept all of their propaganda on the DPRK, China, Russia, Iran, etc.) If they refuse to leave their echo chambers, no amount of empathy can help them.
