Voice of the Proletariat is proud to announce a new and improved glossary, hosted on Notion. This database is to replace the barebones glossary previously hosted here on Substack. At the time of writing, it features over 300 terms, ideas, figures, and other entries.
The glossary can also be found on the homepage of the publication, under “Resources.”
In the same list, you can access a list of donation links for Palestine and our three curated resource collections on Unlearning Capitalism, namely “Imperial Japan: Then and Now,” “Cuba’s Relations with China, Russia, DPRK,” and “China-Palestine Relations.” Additionally, you can see the publication’s RSS feed.
How to navigate and use the glossary
There are five built-in views for the database: sorting by entry, sorting by abbreviation, listing by country, listing by type, or seeing the newest first (as in a feed).

View 1: Sort by entry
By default, the database is sorted alphabetically. This allows you to see all terms in order, from A to Z.
View 2: Sort by abbreviation
When sorting by abbreviation, entries with no abbreviations will be alphabetized separately, following all entries that have abbreviations. Therefore, sorting by entry (view 1) is the most widely supported.
View 3: List by country
The “List by country” view allows you to easily find included topics based on the country most closely associated with said topic. Please note that lists are shown left to right alphabetically, and entries within each list are also sorted as such. You may need to press “Load more groups” to see additional countries.
I intend to add a “region” column and viewing tab in the future given the long list of entries tagged “International.”
View 4: List by type
With the same sorting method as view 3, “List by type” allows you to easily find and scroll through topics such as “Concept / ideology / term,” “Political party / organization,” “War / conflict / historical event,” etc.
View 5: Newest first
The “Newest first” view allows you to see the most recently added entries in one place for those who wish to easily keep track of new additions.
Additional details
In any view, you may also choose to navigate the database with the search, sort, and filter features. These five views were created simply for easy access.
To see a Chinese translation and the last edited date of each entry, open the relevant page (i.e., “Open in side peek”).
Missing or erroneous entries
If a term is missing, you may wish to refer to the Marxists Internet Archive’s encyclopedia and/or reach out to request it be added.1 If you have a suggested change or disagree with a certain description, please use our article corrections form. Alternatively, you may leave a comment under this article, and I will get to your request as soon as possible.
AI notice
In line with our stated Generative AI (GenAI) policy, Voice of the Proletariat may use GenAI for editing, proofreading, or translation purposes, while the use of GenAI for writing, research, or image generation is strongly prohibited. In the context of the glossary, all entries are created by hand, with automation (categorization, autofill) used in some columns.
Please note that Voice of the Proletariat is not affiliated with Marxists Internet Archive.
Our glossary was created not to compete with that of the Marxists Internet Archive but to create an easily accessible reference sheet tailored specifically to this publication’s own viewpoints and topical coverage.

A very valuable tool for unlearning and knowledge building.
