Mission statement
Voice of the Proletariat was created to provide analysis and commentary on current events, international relations (IR), geopolitics, and industry studies through a perspective that prioritizes Eastern and Global South (GS) views over the dominant Western narratives.
The publication aims to disseminate Marxist thought among the masses, showing the correctness and successes of socialist governance while disproving ideas such as “trickle-down” capitalist economics and Western bourgeois “democracy.”
Founding date
Voice of the Proletariat was founded on November 22, 2025, under the name A Little Bit of Everything. The name change was announced on January 5, 2026.
Funding
Voice of the Proletariat is a wholly independent publication with no ties to or funding from any state body or organization. Any funding received, whether through donations or paid subscriptions, originates solely from supportive readers.
The publication aims to keep as much content paywall-free as possible. To ensure readers have sufficient opportunities to read articles, paywalls are only added a full year after each article’s publication date.
Sourcing and editorial standards
All information, photographs, and illustrations are obtained through ethical and legal means.
Whenever possible, Voice of the Proletariat aims to represent diverse voices from all around the world, including from Western, Eastern, and GS sources. In line with the publication’s mission statement, there is a focus on Eastern and GS sources.
Voice of the Proletariat generally prefers primary sources, documents, and public records over biased secondary reporting. Occasionally, firsthand perspectives from independent, on-the-ground journalists are incorporated; if these reports originate on social media, the journalist’s credentials and/or a named source must also be easily accessible.
Article types
Voice of the Proletariat uses the terms “opinion,” “analysis,” and “explainer” to categorize articles that are not solely news reports.
In line with the decisions made based on subscriber feedback in mid-August 2026, news articles and short opinion pieces are not emailed to subscribers throughout the week, while longer-form opinion pieces, analyses, and explainers are. The pieces that are not emailed are then collected in the Saturday Morning Wrap-up newsletter.
The article types and labels system was created on August 16, 2026, and retroactively applied to all past articles.
General news
General news articles do not have any special labels and are typically the shortest. On the homepage, they are under the title “Current Events.” The tag can also be easily accessed through the navigation bar.

Opinion
In most cases, opinion articles are labelled as such in the title, unless this can be easily inferred (e.g., “Reflections on…”). In nearly all cases, articles marked as “reviews” are, by definition, also opinion pieces.

Analysis
Articles labelled as “analysis” have much higher standards than typical opinion articles. While opinion articles are rooted in verifiable facts, conclusions drawn in analyses must be reasonably supported by the relevant, provided evidence.
While the opinion and analysis tags are mutually exclusive, there have been some cases, such as when a piece of media is reviewed using an academically rigorous method, where reviews may also qualify as analyses.

Explainer
Explainers are typically the longest in word count and cover a specific subject matter. For instance, an explainer may translate and explain the nuances of a certain law or break down the history behind a certain term or event.

AI policy
The use of generative AI (GenAI) for writing, research, or image generation is strongly prohibited. All articles are wholly written and researched by a human contributor. Voice of the Proletariat will never release an article that is solely AI-driven. The publication has also chosen to opt into the platform’s built-in AI detection program, which is a partnership between Substack and Pangram.
GenAI may, however, be used for editing, proofreading, or translation purposes. For instance, text may be sent to an AI model such as Qwen or DeepSeek to be revised and its meaning clarified. The publication urges all contributors to avoid the use of Western AI chatbots due to security, privacy, environmental, and ethical concerns.
Corrections policy
Voice of the Proletariat strives for accurate reporting. If inaccuracy, misleading facts, wrong figures, or distortion is made known, corrections are made promptly, clearly, and openly.
Readers are welcome to use this form if they believe something is incorrect or simply to offer feedback.
Minor corrections
Minor corrections, such as fixes to spelling, punctuation, grammar, and formatting, are not noted.
Added content
Content added to an article post-publication will be clearly noted with a pull quote such as, “The following content was added after the original release of the article to reflect updates.” Alternatively, added content may appear in a footnote.
“Living” documents
Pages that are updated frequently, including this page, the About page, the FAQ, or the Selected Works page, have an italicized note at the very top with the most recent edit date.
For example: “Last updated May 20, 2026.”
Withdrawals
Voice of the Proletariat may, on rare occasions, retract a published article if the basis is deemed to be factually incorrect or the piece contains a large number of elements that require correction.
In most cases, the article will be rewritten and republished, with both the original and new publication dates noted.
If the article is no longer relevant, or there is another reason why it should not be rewritten, a message will be made available to all readers notifying them of the change and providing a clear reason.
Reader engagement
Voice of the Proletariat welcomes reader contributions, comments, and feedback. We encourage polite, lively debate and commentary from readers across our posts and articles, as well as on social media sites.
Please avoid posting defamatory statements, hate speech, insults, rude or hostile comments, or similar content. Criticism is strongly encouraged, and it is perfectly acceptable to criticize an argument, angle, or column, but please refrain from personal attacks on individuals, including the author or other readers. Reader comments are moderated for violations of our comments policy, and repeated violations may lead to suspensions of the account.
Collaborations
Voice of the Proletariat is always open to guest writers and interviewees. Expertise may take the form of lived experiences and/or academic knowledge.
For guest writers, please ensure your pitch(es) align with the covered topics of this publication—primarily current events/news, IR, geopolitics, and industry studies. We also welcome writers knowledgeable in topics such as economics and religion. At Voice of the Proletariat, guest writers retain a high level of autonomy in their work.
For interviewees, we are primarily looking for unique voices, especially those from the GS. To avoid misrepresentation, interviewees are always able to read completed articles before publication.
